Drywall screws are mass produced by our factory every day. These screws are without a doubt the most common piece of fastener worldwide. Drywall screws secure all or part of drywall panels to wall studs or ceiling joists.

One of the reasons drywall screws are best for drywall is because of their flared heads. The curved head of the drywall screw presses evenly into the top paper layer of drywall. If the screw is to be used in wood, the hardness of the wood requires a strong bit driver, and the flared head of a drywall screw, compared to the countersunk head of a wood screw, tends to break when pressed into the surface of the wood. So, drywall screws are not commonly used in woodworking.

We can make drive types such as Torx, Square, or Phillips, but most drywall screws still use Phillips heads. Typically a #2 Phillips tip drill will be used.

Most wood studs use coarse thread drywall screws. Also known as W-type screws. The coarse threads do a good job of grabbing the wood and pulling the drywall onto the studs.
Fine thread drywall screws, also known as S-type screws, fine thread drywall screws are best for installing drywall to metal studs.
