Drywall screws, also known as gypsum boards, are mainly used to fix drywall (also known as plasterboard, gypsum board, plasterboard and wallboard) to cold formed steel and wooden frames.

Drywall screws commonly have a Bugle Head head, a thread and a pointed or drilled point. Drywall screws pierce or drill through the material without a pilot hole and then form or cut mating threads during installation. There is a special type of drywall screw and they are trimmer heads. Trim head drywall screws are used to secure wooden trim to drywall and studs.

There are three types of threads for drywall screws, coarse, fine and high-low threads. Drywall screws are available in lengths from 3/4" to 6", but only the smaller sizes are available in short lengths and the larger sizes in long lengths. The shorter lengths are fully threaded and the longer lengths are partially threaded.

The standard drive for Drywall screws is Phillips, usually using a No. 2 Phillips retainer. Trim head drywall screws are available in Phillips and square drive (using a No.1 Phillips or No.1 square drive bit).

The standard material for drywall screws is mild steel. A grey or black phosphate, sometimes coated with a drying oil compound, is the typical finish, providing minimal corrosion protection, but usually sufficient to prevent the formation of rust caused by combined compounds and water-based coatings before they dry.MONSUN also offers drywall screws in Dacromet.
